WELCOME TO TWO CANNOLI!
This is me:
Loyal to a fault. Mama grizzly bear. Dreamer and wanderer. Optimistic and happy.
Curly girl when I let it be. Crazy about classic cars. Baker and dessert maker. Spelling bee queen.
80s music lover. Hopeless romantic.
Thank you for visiting!
You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, The Huffington Post, and I can be reached at kvanderhey at hotmail dot com.
I'm a co-producer of the Listen To Your Mother show in Austin, I'm a freelance writer, and I have published works coming out at the end of 2014 and 2015. For more on my writing, please see my portfolio page.
The Two Cannoli family is made up of me, my husband (who prefers to be mostly anonymous), our son, our extended family, and bevy of fantastic friends. We live in one of the most fantastic cities in the country: Austin, Texas.
A few of the posts that will tell you the most about me can be found here, and here, and here.
Mostly, I talk about family and friends and my experiences as a parent. But I also cover some tough topics, like sexual abuse, rape, and domestic violence. If you have a story to tell and need someone to tell it for you, contact me and I'll help you find the words. It is freeing to unleash a secret that has weighed you down.
My personal timeline:
1970: Born in Hackensack, NJ
1973: Moved to Elkhart, IN
1993: Graduated from University of Cincinnati with BA in Communication Arts
1999: Sprained my neck - see domestic violence post here

Why do you call your blog Two Cannoli?
Garth Brooks sings a song called "Two Pina Coladas" (one for each hand...) and while I like pina coladas and all that, I like cannoli more. (Plus, I'm half Italian.)
Doesn't that cannoli image make you drool?
What I love about cannoli is that they're crunchy on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside. I'm pretty much gushy and sweet all over, but my husband and some of my best friends are of the crunchy-on-the-outside variety. I love that some people are a little tougher for the outside world to get to, but are all sweetness inside.
It's all about what's inside.
