Voodoo Blue and Army Green Too: Toyota's SRT Line

Here’s what we can tell you about Toyota’s TRD (Toyota Racing Development) line: you may not NEED the upgrade, but you’re going to WANT it. And here’s why: first of all, every TRD Pro model includes upgraded JBL Premium Audio multimedia systems along with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa compatibility.

The Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner TRD Pros offer a 8-inch touchscreen, and the Sequoia TRD Pro includes a 7-inch touchscreen (we’re hoping for a larger screen in the next model). We slid behind the wheel on a 2020 Sequoia TRD Pro recently, and - aside from the infotainment - it’s our favorite of the lineup.

In terms of the VROOM factor, the Sequoia TRD Pro offers a 5.7-liter i-FORCE V8 and brings 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque. The Sequoia TRD Pro can tow up to 7,100 lbs. and features an integrated tow hitch, Driver-selectable Tow/Haul transmission mode and Trailer Sway Control. The Tacoma, in contrast, can tow up to about 6,700 lbs; the Tundra can tow 9,800 lbs; and the 4Runner a bit less, topping out at 5,000 lbs. Any of these can tow a small trailer or boat on up.

The 2020 Sequoia TRD Pro is available as a 7-seat model with captain’s chairs in the middle and an easy-to-use third row with 60/40 split backs that also recline.

The single-outlet exhaust features a black chrome tip and TRD debossed logo, offering a bolder exhaust note that TRD engineers designed with a frequency-tuned sound cancellation device to improve in-cabin sound quality.”
